Please help! Advice please!!?

ok so my friend lives in florida and shes 19 (just turned june 25th) and her gf is 16 (and she'll be turning 17 on october 7th) so there's about 2 years difference between them. recently their familys just found out that theyre together because her gf's aunt went into her email and found a sex story she had previously sent her and some semi-nude pics they had been swapping. its been hell since then. her family and the family on her gf's mothers side are like ';whatever'; but the gf's dads side is hell bent on putting my friend in jail and want to beat the shyt out of her. the gf's mom and dad(who are divorced) dont want this to happen and have said they will not press charges. the mom does not like my friend @ all but the dad does and he has no problem with my friend and her gf being together. because of this his family is blaming him for everything and has threatened to get him labeled as mentally unstable/insane. my friend has not spoken to her gf since the night the family found out and is communicating with her through other means and basically she cant see her until she turns 18 next year (and she is willing to wait that long). in addition, this also seems like some type of custody battle because the aunts want to raise my friend's gf, so if they can label the dad as insane and prove the mother to be an unfit mother they will be able to have custody of her...my friend would like to kno what shud she do? can the aunts really do anything? and do u have ne advice for her?Please help! Advice please!!?
To get someone labeled an unfit, you have to have proof of neglect--not providing the basic necessities of life like food and shelter. It is actually legal for a 19 yr old to date a 17yr old, and it happens all of the time in the heterosexual world. The people that are upset--are they really upset about the age difference, or are they upset that she has a girlfriend instead of a boyfriend? From what you have told us, it doesn't sound like the aunts can legally do anything. There isn't enough proof that would lead to parental rights being taken away. Please help! Advice please!!?
Tell your friend to get a lawyer to represent her. She probably can't afford one but could get one through legal aid. At that point (hopefully) it'll shut everyone up and stall things until she is of legal age.

Well, the aunts are insane if they think they can get the dad declared insane for accepting his daughter for who she is. I will always think 16 is too young for any sexual contact and so do the Police. They should wait for each other, keep in touch on the phone and write and so on but nothing physical.
They will never get the Dad declared insane or unfit as his only ';crime'; in their eyes is to love %26amp; support his Daughter.No court in their right mind would sanction that nor would they prosecute a 19 year old for having a 17 year old girlfriend!! That's preposterous.Also the aunts just can't get custody of a 17 year old-she will have a say in the matter at her age.They are just blowing smoke,they haven't got a legal leg to stand on.Your friend needs to resume her relationship %26amp; the Aunts need to butt out of her,her gf %26amp; certainly her Dad's life.As Aunts,it's nothing to do with them-they are not immediate relatives,they are extended family.
