I was unstrapping my nine month old son and he leaped out of his high chair, sitting right next to me!!! He fell and hit his head and is acting fine but he has a bruise and scratch on the side/top of his head inches away from where his soft spot used to be.
I want to take him to the doctor's office but I'm afraid they will try and take him away...It was an accident and I'm so scared and unsure of what to do. He's never hit his head like this. Please help mePlease Help, I need real advice not criticism?
accidents happen, don't beat yourself up over it. Keep an eye on him, but most likely he is just fine. If he shows any signs of a concussion take him to the Dr. right away. Here are some symptoms.
鈥? loss of consciousness
鈥? drowsiness
鈥? dizziness
鈥? confusion
鈥? vomiting
鈥? irritability
鈥? drainage, clear or bloody, from his nose, mouth, or earsPlease Help, I need real advice not criticism?
If your really worried about him then you need to take him to the doctor, they wont take him away, as long as it really was an accident then theres no reason to be worried about it! If he truly is hurt then it would be neglect to not take him to the doctor. I'm sure he's fine, but that's a big fall!
So, if he is acting normally, the bruise isn't swelling greatly, he isn't excessively sleepy, he doesn't have raccoon eyes (when the blood spills into the ocular socket making for bruised looking eyes), he's probably okay. They WILL NOT try to take him away, babies sometimes do things like this and we can not anticipate all of them.
Don't let him fall asleep because he could have a concussion. I'm not trying to scare you but I'm being completely honest. If you are that concerned I would take him to the doctor ASAP. Better to be safe than sorry. They aren't going to take him away because he leaped out of the chair. I can promise you that you aren't the first person that has happened to and you won't be the last. Doctors see this stuff all of the time. Besides they could do something to you if you didn't take him and something ended up being wrong. Good Luck.
Don't worry, take him to the doctor because head is the most important part of human. I don't know that why you are saying that they will take him. In any condition, you must take him for a check up, say he fell over and hurt himself. Even if they take him, it is going to be good for him, not bad. So, my advice take him to doctor as soon as possible.
Depending on how big the scratch and bruise are...yes doctors will most likely call someone to investigate the bruise and scratch on your son. even though doctors may be unbelieving you got to think whats best for your child. The way you said he never hit his head that bad really makes it sound awful. especially with it being right near his soft spot. You should take him in just to be sure that he is ok.
You should take him, this happens a lot. Im a mother of one and my son, when he was 5months was lying in bed with me and he rolled right out of bed. of course i took him to his doctors the next morning to make sure he was fine. Never be scared like its your fault and think like that. Take him and get him checked out! God bless
I'm not a doctor, but if i were in your position... I would monitor him closely... literally stare at him for several minutes. Watch his eyes, check to see if he looks dizzy or sleepy... let him try to crawl around, check to see if he move around in the same way as before or notices things in the room the same way. If he does, I would think he is ok. If you think there is the slightest chance that something bad happened or if he does appear drowzy, sleepy, out of it... I'd take him in. Did this just happen? Is he smiling / crying?
They're not going to take him away because of a little bruise on his head. Stuff happens. My kids almost always have bruises or scratches on them, they fall down and fall off things and trip--they're older than your baby, but you get what I'm saying.
Take him to the doctor if you're concerned.
take a deep breath and stop panicking. he'll probably be fine, but watch out for vomiting, or sleepyness or cross eyedness. thats concussion and he'll need to se the doctor for that.
they wont take him away from you, they'll have seen a million bumped noggins between them!
that's little boys for you, you can prepare for a lot worse to come!
Call the doctor-they get head bump questions ALL the time. Stuff like this happens to everyone and the foster care system would collapse if they reported every bruise.
Sorry this happened to you, but try and relax because you'll have more in the future.
it was an ACCIDENT. it doesn't mean your a bad mother or anything. the doctors will accept this, honestly. things like this and things even worse will happen ALL the time and kids don't get taken away.
it wasn't your fault ,nor the child's. it was just one of those things.
talk him to the docter. I dropped my child when he was 6 months cause i tripped over my dog and i took him to the hospital so he can have a cat scan take him in to be on the safe side. Its better then having him be dead if you didnt. They wont take him away.
Kids hurt themselves all the time. If you are nervous about his injury, go to the doctor. Don't hesitate because you're afraid you'll be accused of something. Without sounding harsh, saying that makes you sound guilty.
Take him to the doctor anyway. Kids fall all the time. Your concern should be about his health.
Just explain to the doctor what happened and you'll all be fine! My son had his fair share of dings growing up. He's now 33 and healthy.
Take him to the doctor.
They won't take him away, accidents happen.
It is more irresponsible that you don't take him to the doctor. Don't be selfish, think about your child's life. Not yours.
Your child's health should be more important than anything else - take him to the doctors. If he fell and banged his head this isn't child abuse. Not taking him to see a doctor when he is injured is child abuse.
Your little man should be okay, but if you are worried, help yourself to getting medical attention. They would know better than anyone else on this site.
But just remember, kids bump and jump and get right back up. =]
All honesty they will take him away if you dont get him checked. Stuff like this happens all the time. Were not perfect. The important thing is to make sure the baby is okay.
