I'm trying to rise above my family's condition and build a good life for myself. I was accepted into a prestigious university filled with classy, educated students and I feel very out of place. Other than being polite, speaking well, and working hard, what tips do you have that might help me fit in and be classier? I'm a 20 year old woman. Thank you.Need advice, please help?
Transitioning into an unfamiliar surrounding based on class can be just as jarring as if you had moved to another country. I've struggled this somewhat myself in college.
You might want to read this book called ';Limbo: Blue Collar Roots, White Collar Dreams.'; The guy who wrote it came from a working class background and describes a lot of the struggles that people have when they are suddenly trying to fit in with people from a higher economic/social class when they go to college.
